Stowford Pre-School was founded in 1983 my a group of mothers. In the early years it was known as Victoria Park Playgroup, which met in the local scout hut, in Blatchford Road. We then moved to Stowford House and renamed the group to Stowford House Playgroup. In 1987 we were asked to move as the house was to be redeveloped. After one year in St John's Church Hall, we acquired our present building, and with a lot of help and fundraising we opened in September 1989. Since this time we have been known as Stowford Pre-School. The group is managed by an elected committee of parents, the sessions are run by our team of well qualified playleaders.

We receive support from the Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. We are inspected by OFSTED to ensure that we comply with the National Standards for Under Eights Day Care and Childminding, and that the nursery education for funded three and four year old children is of an acceptable quality.

Our latest OFSTED report can be viewed at www.ofsted.gov.uk or at the Pre-School
